Hi. Marv is out, on Windows and now on Mac too, and I wanted you to hear it from me.

I built this on my own. I’m excited, and I’m also expecting it to break in places. If Marv gets something wrong, or something just feels off, email me. I’d rather hear it from you than guess.

What’s a background job?

Hand Marv the long stuff: research, comparing options, sorting files. He works on it in the corner while you carry on, and pings you when it’s done. File jobs never delete anything, and every move can be undone.

Download Marv.

Free to start, on Windows and Mac. He keeps himself up to date after that.

On Windows

“Windows protected your PC”? Don’t panic. Marv is built by a student, and Microsoft charges hundreds of pounds a year to vouch for new apps. That’s a lot of instant noodles. Click More info → Run anyway and you’re in. After that, every update installs itself with no warnings.

On a Mac

Open Marv.dmg and drag Marv into Applications. He’s checked and notarised by Apple, so he opens without a fuss. He lives in the menu bar, and asks for Microphone, Screen Recording and Accessibility so he can hear you, see what you ask about and point. macOS 12 or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
